Stretton Group

dscn1560"Stretton group"  provides an opportunity for families to get together to offer and support social and group learning with regular weekly meetings. It has been running since 2001 and relies on the active collaboration of parents and children for its success.

Between us we organise activities, workshops and visits. Our sessions are parent or child led and often draw on the skills and knowledge of local people outside the immediate group. Current on-going projects include drama and production of a play, a chronological approach to history and a science group exploring energy.

The RSA Award has enabled us to part fund training for a forest school leader. This offers opportunities for our children and young people of all ages.

We aim to create an environment where children and adults feel able to learn from and support each other. To this end we have three expectations:

  • firstly, participation in group activities is up to the individual child (in consultation with its parent) so that independent learning is encouraged;
  • secondly, in the spirit of creating a learning, fun and relaxed environment, those choosing not to participate are asked not to prevent others enjoyment of activities; and
  • thirdly, at all times individual parents are responsible for the behaviour and well being of their own child/ren.

The remainder of this area is concerned with the organisation and activity of the group and so is of most interest to those who participate at some level.
Please register to gain access.

Reminder. The group is a collaboration of families and at all times parents are responsible for the safety and well being of their own child/ren.
